Back to the Blog...

I did have a wonderful get-away - thanks almost entirely to my
dear friend LM and her fabulous 3 yr old son.  They made me
feel so welcome in their home!  It was really lovely.  Here they
are having dinner with me right before they dropped
me off at the airport to fly home.
LM had agreed to babysit (or should I say "puppy-sit") a
sweet little 8 week old basset hound puppy for a friend.
The dog was adorable but do you know how often
puppies need to go outside?  I had forgotten how much
attention a puppy requires!  Louie is cute but he was
a great reminder of why rescuing adult dogs is such
a great idea!
On Friday, when I got back home, Mr. Biff and I
dropped off our recyling (in the rain)
and took a quick tour of the recyling store.  I am guessing
a local tea store may have closed and there were
all these cool tea tins.  I debated about buying a few
but stuck to just one - I had an idea that I might
use it for dog food as it is big enough to hold a whole
large bag full.
Here's the before:
And here's the after:
I poked a hole in the lid and attached a ceramic knob that I
recently purchased - it's a black & white frog and
I painted one panel with good old chalkboard paint.
I thought the  knob would do until I can find something
more dog-appropriate...LOL.
I did get some other goodies too - spent a total of $5 -
I will show you the rest tomorrow.
For now - one more little pic of
little Louie....

Hope you are having a great weekend!

I am Co-Hosting a Par-tay!! & Ain't LUV Grand?

Now before I get to the mushy stuff - I am thrilled
to say I am co-hosting a Linky "Par-tay"
beginning tomorrow to celebrate
Jaime Lyn's 1 year Blogiversary over at
Please be sure to come back tomorrow and
join us for a party-extraordinaire!

Now onto LUV:
I feel like every day is Valentine's Day - even the not so
perfect ones.  I have been blessed with finding my soulmate
and every day I am grateful for his love.

I remember the first giddy moment of falling in love with
him - he sent me a text while I was away for a weekend
just after we first met.  It was a long, multi-part text of one of
the most famous poems by Gaius Valerius Catallus.
Catallus 5 was written in 65 BC (proving love is a constant).
Here is  just a portion translated:

"Give me a thousand kisses, then a hundred.
Then, another thousand, and a second hundred.
Then, yet another thousand, and a hundred.

Then, when we have counted up many thousands,
Let us shake the abacus, so that no one may know the number,
And become jealous when they see
How many kisses we have shared."
The romantic guy sent it to me in Latin (I'll admit I had
to google it for the translation and then was all aflutter!)

“Da mi basia mille, deinde centum, dein mille altera,
dein secunda centum, deinde usque altera mille,
 deinde centum”

Yup, he had me at "da".....*giggle*

So as we celebrate our 6th Valentine's Day together
 I offer him back this:

"Tutto a te mi Guida"

Ain't love grand? (Now go google it!)

Have a heart...

I don't know about you - but I am amazed when I "shop"
my house - what I can find!  I started on a little hunt around
the house for hearts for Valentine's Day....I find I have
quite a few!

I found this great wire heart-shaped basket that I got at
a thrift store some time ago and had intended to paint.

I also found this turquoise heart - it normally sits in a little wire
basket in my ensuite bathroom.

And then there's this little wire cage heart that opens up - this
one I did intend to paint and still will but in the meantime
isn't it cute?

I was inspired by all of YOU  to make some of my own
rustic hearts.....(while watching "The Voice" the
other night)

And finally - when all else fails and you want to do something
for a little occasion like Valentine's Day - hit the dollar stores!

These cute little clothes pegs were a dollar a package!

I am pretty sure this weekend will see me digging out more
from around the house because....

You gotta have heart!
*corny I know*

I'm with Oprah....

Think like a queen.
A queen is not afraid to fail.
Failure is another stepping stone to
greatness.  ~Oprah Winfrey

So there I am....the queen of failure and
even featured as thus.....

And, that makes me happy!  If I never
tried, I would always wonder.  Now I know
for certain I can sew "almost" anything (just
not fitted slipcovers....!)

Yup, my name is Peggy and I challenged
the impossible by imagining the possible and
found it was, er, well....impossible.

Thank you so much to the fabulous hosts of
the challenge and please know - next time I
will kick some serious sewing *ss!

Check out the successful features....@

Don't Lose the Love! I'm Adding Linky Followers!

I've added a new link widget
on the side of my blog under the Google Friend Connect.
As you may know Google Friend Connect will be going away
for non-blogger blogs effective March 1, 2012.
I can't tell you how much I love knowing that people
are following my blog, reading and hopefully enjoying
the little DIY and day-to-day life tidbits I share.
I want to continue to follow you too so please consider
adding this link to your blog so I can follow you
back.  I have started signing up wherever I see it on
a blog to ensure I don't lose any of you!  You guys
rock my world!  I don't think I would be half as productive
if I wasn't following along.
Here's the link:

LinkyFollowersLogo1
It truly is simple
it has a step by step guide
to help you get it on your blog

linky followers 2

I am using Google Blogger so I will be also keeping the
Google Friends Connect (at least until it's gone!).  If you do
change over - please feel free to leave me a comment so that I
can hop on over and follow you too!

So it really WAS impossible....(epic fail :)

Can you say "Epic Fail"?  I had challenged myself to make
slip covers for these two cute little wing chairs that turned
into bendy-twisted demon chairs!

I tried....

The outcome was er, well hideous.....I hang my head in sewing shame
and pick up my phone to dial Sears to order some slipcovers......

Hee,hee....it really wasn't that dramatic but something, somewhere did
go horribly wrong and let's just say it was.....an epic fail!

Lesson learned:  Peggy can't sew freestyle....whahoo!

Love all the great projects that DID turn out and next time....look out!
(cause I will hire a professional....hee,hee!)

Bravely linking to: Linda's Imagine the Impossibilities Party here.
You just have to go and check out what challenges
were met and with such awesome talent!
