Running Free....

There's nothing like a clear summer night with

an almost full moon to take the dogs for a

run in an open field.  Although the mozzies

were fierce the wagging tails and panting are

good indicators that everyone had a ball!

Bring on the weekend!

Hey Guess What?

In my last post I challenged myself to

complete FIVE, (yup, count 'em 5) projects

this weekend....and I exceeded my own

challenge!  Yeah!

I will post the rest of the "before" and "after"s this week.

What a great weekend it's been - finally it feels

like summer is here on the West Coast of BC!

Project #1 - Drum Table

This little drum table was purchased for $3 by Mr. Biff

at a garage sale recently.  He wasn't wild about it

but, always my hero, he bartered and got it for me!

A little sanding, a little paint (I mixed my own

 "pink") and a LOT of layers....

After I painted 3 coats of the palest pink I could

mix....I sanded the edges with my rotary sander.

I wanted this to look chippy and worn.  I used a

piece of synthetic  lace as a stencil on the top and

 sprayed it first with white - which

hardly showed....

So one more time with silver....then I sanded it all again

and took the lace down to "barely there".  I also

used a piece of lace taped on with painter's tape

down the front of the door panel.

When everything was dry I rubbed it all with the
 only stain I had on hand....dark walnut.  Working
VERY quickly I wiped it on and

wiped it right back off - highlighting all
the fabulous grooves on

this little table.

I am thrilled with how it turned out - down to the little
 acrylic knob - it's hard to tell in the photos
but the knob is the same pinky colour
 as the table...

This little table will join some of my other projects

at a special "Elegant Garage Sale" in September....

In the meantime here's a sneak peak at the little stool that is

project #2...

I was thinking of a Crown maybe in white on

the top surface?......don't you LUV
the colour - "oops" paint once again
to the rescue!  Gotta luv it!

I love having little things that have stayed with me over

the years. This little brass mouse has been with me

 for at least 20 years - he

always sits in a place of prominence - for now

he is sitting reading his little book on the stone

 fireplace on the deck....

With not a care in the world.....

Git'er Done

Honestly, I must have 25 projects in the works.

Do you ever do that?  Have so many things

going at one time that you are not sure which one you

should try to finish first?  Well, I hereby dedicate this

weekend to trying

getting at least five projects done.....FIVE!

The little desk that is going to have the French label top....half done.....

Not started...but should not take long?

Desk with first coat of paint....half done (again!)

Pedestal bowl that keeps calling to me to finish it.....not started....

I am really, REALLY, keeping it real.....these are just 5 of the 25+ project

this crazy gal has on the go.....now say it with me....

GIT 'ER DONE!!

And soothe my soul by telling me that I am not

the only one who tries to do 20 things (er, 25 things)

at once.....

Wrong or White.....

It's so easy to get caught up in the clean feel of white....there
 are days when I just want to paint everything white!

But seriously.....

I often will get a little project piece like this lovely box and

will sit it on my computer desk until it speaks to me about

what it needs to be brought back to life.....

I am pretty sure I heard it say....just sand me lightly

and add a little stain and maybe (?) a little

French stencil would be nice...

Look at the dovetail design of this box - it has

a great old copper clasp with room for a pretty

little lock to lock away treasures......

It was $2.50 at the Thrift Store.

Let's see what it has to say when I get to it next weekend!
