Beachy-Keen

I made this bracelet some time ago.  It is still one of my favourites!  I

thought I would share it as it seems so "beachy" in feel and
is in keeping with our change in weather.

 It along with many other creations are for sale.

again. 

Is it just me or does there always seem to be a million fun things

to do and never enough time to do 'em all?

A Hairy Fail or a Fairy Tale?

It might be said that "a hair on the head is worth

two in the brush".....and I would agree.  I am glad to

have my hair and very aware that there are those who

long for hair (long or short!).

My stupidist "hair" moment by far was when I said to

my sister who was then going through chemo treatments

"I just can't do a darn thing with my hair - I hate it".  To which

she good-humouredly took off her baseball cap, rubbed her

scalp and said "yeah, I know just what you mean".  Good

thing she loved me the way she did - we laughed and laughed.

She passed away 14 years ago - and since that time I have always

really tried to be more self-aware - to reflect on what I am saying

and what I am complaining about and who it might impact. So this

is NOT a complaint (haha) just an observation about how things

don't always go the way we think they should.

I coloured my hair this morning and let me tell you - my hair

ALWAYS come out the same colour (medium brown).

Here's what I used:

I was relatively sure that things would go the way they always

go and I would get what I had always got...

 there have never been any surprises no matter what shade I pick -

......until......

My medium brown hair now looks like this:

I don't hate it - in fact I LOVE red hair -but suffice it to say 

it was not what I was going for!  I am sure, in a day

or two, it will grow on me (pun intended!).

Isn't She Lovely?

I don't know about you but I simply could not live without my little

four-legged friends.  My little Marcie is such a doll.  Mr. Biff calls

her the "boneless" dog because she will simply flop on you if you

put her on your lap.  Such a bundle of goodness in one little critter!

She obviously didn't like the flash on this one.

Can you say "relaxed"?

Marcie loved our chickens when we had them in our old backyard.  I

think she thought they were hers....

Bee is also a charmer - she's what I lovingly refer to as my "pilot"

dog because she accompanies me every where I go. Here she is being

a fashionista!

Fluffy after a bath (she doesn't like baths!)

And little Bee sleeping...which is what she likes to do (and

she snores like a buzz-saw!)

Hope you've enjoyed this peek at "the girls".  They are truly

little lovelies (ok, except when they bark incessantly at the

neighbours, or trip you on the way to the bathroom during the

night, or insist on getting up at the crack of dawn for a walk!)

Holy Toledo....

Not really sure where that expression came from but it sums up our weather!

Summer has finally decided to show it's fair face to us on the West Coast.  I have

not been envious of the heatwave temps across the States but really - we were not

even close to what some might call summer weather......

The old joke in BC is that if you live on the West Wet Coast -

you don't tan - you RUST!

Yeah for all of us rust-loving junkers!

I am sharing a spiffy Sangria recipe today for what I call "Cheater Sangria".

Couldn't be easier.  Fill a glass with some chopped up fruit or berries - really

anything you have on hand. 

Add half a can of this:

Top up with your favourite red wine:

and A R R I B A  ! !

(an exclamation of pleasure, approval, or elation)

......you got Sangria Baby!

You can make a pitcher full just by adjusting ingredients to your taste.

You can make the "fussy" Sangria and I have but when company

arrives and you want to look like Martha without all the work....
