Hey Paula....

Does anyone but me remember that song?
Hey Paula?  or, am I giving away
my age yet again?

Trivia Time:
"Hey Paula" is a song recorded by "Paul & Paula".
It hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on the week
ending February 9, 1963.  "Paul" was the song's writer,
Ray Hildebrand a student at Howard Payne College in
Brownwood, Texas. "Paula" was Jill Jackson, the niece
of the owner of the boarding house where Ray lived.

Anywho...I digress....
A long time ago I asked Paula (the real one)
if she had any interest in making jewelry - it
was  probably about a year ago and at
the time she said yes.
Well, best laid plans....we finally got
together this week and I've got to
tell you Ms. Paula is a natural
 at making the pretty
stuff.....

Here's a sampling of what she made
with very little instruction from me....

Crystals 'n Silver

Jasper & Crystal

Chunky Wire-Wrapped Turqouise

A little later in the evening
I rec'd this email from
Paula....
"A monster has been created....
 gosh this
is fun!"

Look at her go!  Nice job Paula!
Thanks again for the visit and the
"black bean brownies"...they were awesome!

On top of the lovely time - check out the view
from Paula's deck....this is one of
the best views I've seen of our lovely
harbour city.

Ok, Holiday Girl signing off....until tomorrow,

Holiday Girl In the House.....

There used to be a time when the days
just before holidays I would assume a new
"persona"....aka:  Holiday Girl!  I generally
strove to make life miserable delightful for
those around me while I counted down my
sleeps to vacation.

This year it arrived in a blur...busy, busy, busy!
I didn't even get a chance to do a little
Holiday Girl dance!  Mr. Biff to the rescue
he made sure today that I felt like Holiday Girl
....he brought me these:

Can you believe it?

What a sweetheart with a capital SWEET!

I thought I would show off the little French
table I finally finished.....you might remember it from

Please don't look too closely at the ugly
door mat - or the floor mat in the "before"
or the swirly little sander marks that were
not because I got too exuberant with my
sanding (no I didn't - really!)

Anyway - here she is - I will have to
touch up the top tomorrow but hey,
Holiday Girl is in the house so no
worries!!

Tomorrow I am going to see Paula
and we are going to make pretty jewels.
I will post the pics tomorrow.

Thank you to the Graphics Fairy for the lovely French label!

Ain't LUV grand?

p.s. don't forget to check out the Sunday *Sigh*
and my first give-away...did I mention "Holiday
Girl in the House!"  Yeah, Baby, that's what
I'm talkin' about!

Sunday *Sigh* and My FIRST Give-Away!!

It's Sunday Night *Sigh* and I am embarking on
2 weeks of "summer" vacation!  Now that
Mr. Biff went and got a new job (*congrats* Mr. B!*)
- travel  plans have been cancelled.  But I am
feeling kind of like I need a break so will
still take my time off - instead of
"the beach"  I will be playing DIY Gal
around the house for the next 2 weeks!
yyyyeeeeeeessssssssss!

I get all these great ideas but working full
time sometimes inhibits my ability to bring
all these wonderful things to fruition.

I am going to start tomorrow on my living
room "makeover" - it's really an update - new
curtains, new area rug, new lampshades, that
kind of stuff.  I am going to attempt to slipcover
2 chairs....stay tuned - this oughtta be fun!
In the meantime tonight while browsing
Craigslist - I found this:

It's definitely "home-made" but the price was right - $zippity,
$zero, $zilcho, yessiree....FREE!

So, as I approach 20 followers (2 to go!) I thought
I would celebrate holidays with a little
give-away.....Help me with this project:

What should I do with it?
 Change the legs?
Change the hardware? Strip it and repaint it?
What colour should it be?

Let me know what you think!

Leave  me a comment on what you think I should do with
it and you could win these:

Turquoise Dyed Magnesite with Silver &
Swarovski Crystals...handmade by (me) Pear Tree Jewels

All you have to do is leave me a comment with your
suggestions for one entry.

For a 2nd chance to win - follow me
(or tell me you are already following) for another entry.

Give-away closes midnight PST, Friday, August 19th

And stay tuned for a week full of posts & pics!

Can You Use "That" in a Sentence?

Ah, it was a lovely, lazy
Saturday....technically the
first day of my summer vacation!
Yeah!
And....it's going to rain tomorrow...
*sigh*

We did go out today for a bit after
Mr. Biff got off work (he got called
in unexpectedly).....found some FUN
stuff including some great already made
slipcovers for my new dining room
chairs (thank you Cindy!)

One of the most interesting things we
found today was this:

I thought how cool would it be to
put these "words" in a funky
little container and leave them out
when you have company over....

Something interesting to play with
and a natural conversation starter!

And check out the 70's couple
on the box....yeesh...I remember
the 70's well!  You didn't think
a "maxi" skirt was something
new did you? and how fab is
his hair?

Now can you use "good find" in
a sentence?

Sending along Saturday/Sunday Love,
