Curb Shopping Luv.....and...the Answer....

This old dresser travelled across the country with me - crazy
I know - but I found it on the curb in our neighbourhood in
Toronto and I just could NOT leave it behind.  I've been
carting it around for almost 4 years so YEAH ME - I finally
finished it!

Here's what the poor old dear looked like before:

And here's how she turned out.....

If you read my post (here) I might have picqued
your curiousity on the "bling" teaser.

Here's what I
did with the gems.....

And here's how I did it. (Please forgive the out-of-focus
pics - I was the do-er and the photographer!)

I found these ones for 25 cents each but I have seen
them at Fabricland (if you are in Canada) sold by the box.

I don't think they would stand up to kids pulling on them but
for my purposes - a server in the dining room - they will be
just fine.  I have lots of treasures to share this week - some
of which you can see on top of the dresser.......

So be sure to c'mon back to see more!
Have a great week!

Hi Peggy - I saw your link over at DebbieDoo's. Love this little dresser! The knobs are really neat - love the idea. I have something this may work well on. Thanks for the inspiration.

Pretty darn clever drawer knobs. I never would of thought of something like that, and they look just like those expensive little glass ones, maybe even better!

I love what you did with the knobs. I can see that I paid WAY too much for some knobs I used.

Lesson learned. Thank you.

Luv luv luv it! What kinda paint did you use? I live in Toronto, there is only 1 retailer that sells Annie Sloan Chalk Paint which is in Bath, Ontario (Oh only a 5 hr drive!) I will have to order it online. I want to paint an art deco dresser but then transfer an image on to it by burnishing it with pastel so I don't want to use something with a sheen. Do you have any advise for me?

Peggy said...

@ Bellamella - the paint is actually a kitchen/bath oops can - its slightly off-white. It doesn't have too much of a shine to it. I needed something that could take the wear and tear in the dining room. I have made my own chalk paint successfully and would suggest you try out some of the recipes. I used about 2 tblsp NON-Sanded white grout to every 1.5 cups of paint. It goes on gritty but dries smooth.
